With the "R" Conference right around the corner, let's shed a little light on the Ladies of the Women's Ministry. Aqua Copeland and Carla Cuney lead Sistah Talk, Sistah2Sistah, and Sistah Can We Talk?!
Tell us a little about yourselves.
Aqua - I'm a single, godly woman, passionately pursuing and serving the Lord. I desire to see women tap into their God-given power and live out their purpose in Him. I have a passion and a hands-on approach for helping people change their lives and enjoy Kingdom living!
Carla - I'm a married woman of God with two children, passionate about helping women discover their worth in Jesus Christ. I never want a sistah to feel alone in her journey to become the woman of God she was created to be.
Does your ministry have a mission/vision statement?
Confirming and affirming our relationships in Christ by challenging one another to be the church.
Who can participate in your ministry?
Women seeking relationships in Christ.
How long have you been involved in the ministry?
We both have been ivolved in the ministry since its inception (October 2003).
How long have you been leading the ministry?
Since its inception.
What caused you to get involved and lead the ministry?
We experienced a mighty move of God while attending an international woman's conference. We knew after this encounter with God an assignment would follow.
How has leading this ministry impacted your life?
Leading this ministry has given us a greater sensitivity and understanding of the needs of women and a greater capacity and desire to love and serve.
If you could speak to someone who is considering participating in the minisrty, what would you say?
Our ministry is an inviting, safe atmosphere where women can come, connect, and learn more about God in a warm, loving, sistah-friendly environmnet.
If I were a participant in your ministry, what could I expect?
Expect to be received in love, while learning about God and Godly principles to live by, through the reading of the Word and sharing of testimonies.
What kind of feedback to you receive from participants?
Women are challenged to grow deeper in their faith, and strenthen their relationship with God. It is a catalyst for improving decision-making, change and growth. Testimonies of transformation and deliverance have been shared.
What is your most memorable moment as a ministry leader?
Each moment a woman comes to us and shares how her life had been changed because of participationg, growing through relationships formed, and lessons learned in Sistah Talk is memorable for us.
Picture your ministry a year from now. What do you see? What has changed?
In a year, more women are prioritizing their spiritual growth by desperately seeking God. We also see more community outreach.
Any closing thoughts?
We invite more women to come and experience the love and compassion that Sistah Talk ministries offer: Sistah Talk - 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month, Sistah2Sistah - 2nd Saturday of every quarter,a nd Sistah Can We Talk - the 3rd Friday of every other month.
Come tonight (1/20/2010) at 6pm in the Gold Room and be refreshed at Sistah Talk as we finish "talking" about Mary and Martha. Let's not get so busy working that we forget to or neglect worship! See you tonight!
